TUIUTI UNIVERSITY OF PARANÁ (UNIVERSIDADE TUIUTI DO PARANÁ)

The industrial component is also evident in the products exhibited on these two pages. These products – really prototypes –, conceived for mass production, are evidence of the existence of teaching directed towards industrial design. Developed by students in the bachelor’s degree course at the Tuiuti University in Paraná, Curitiba, they show innovation with original solutions, the results of authentic research and knowledge of the available productive processes.
Research and experimentation were the foundations for a great part of the work but call special attention to the Fire Box cardboard barbecue grill (that’s right!), designed by Alessandro Nakashima. A special resin treatment – the formula for which is an industrial secret –, added to vermiculite, a mineral having insulation properties, makes the cardboard barbecue grill resistant to fire. Only one rule must be obeyed: the barbecue may only last a maximum of two hours.
The liberty to create which is available to the students, who do not need to submit to impositions by the market, certainly contributed to the work’s good results. But it is important to point out that the innovation that we pursue so eagerly may also be obtained in commercial products. It is merely necessary to define each project’s scope.
